Perseverance is a story of adversity and overcoming. The woman is being held onto by challenges that arise in her life. However, her smile shows that she accepts her role in facing the challenges with positivity, as she knows she cannot control what happens to her, only her response. The opposite colors in the eyes of the 'challenges' and the woman represent her recognition that just as her hardships are a part of her, so, too, is she a part of shaping their outcome.
This painting is my proudest work to date. It took 3 months to complete, and holds a special place in my heart.
